E-commerce manager

I’m Rebecca, the E-Commerce Manager for Wemyss Family Spirits. My role focuses on driving sales to our online websites (Kingsbarns, Darnley’s and Wemyss Malts and Wemyss Family Spirits EU) and our Amazon MarketPlace channels.

I guess my passion for the spirits industry began in university. I started collecting local gins, wanting to find the best gin for my cocktails at home. My partner was a bartender at the time and we both enjoyed sampling the new gins in cocktails. He also introduced me to whisky – we enjoyed going for a ‘half & half’ at the weekend. My topic for my dissertation was investigating the Brand Ambassadors Role in the Scottish Craft Gin Industry, which drove my passion to work in the spirits industry. I have a varied digital marketing/e-commerce background from experience in marketing/advertising agencies, an electronics SME and coffee – speciality coffee, coffee equipment and wholesale coffee. I have definitely found similarities from the coffee industry to the spirits industry, like tasting notes and suggested serves, which has come in handy when creating product listings.

I’m still a newbie at Wemyss, having just joined a couple of months ago, but looking forward to getting stuck into all the upcoming exciting projects. It's been great to be enrolled on to the Edinburgh Whisky Academy to get my Whisky and Gin certification, it definitely helps you feel more comfortable with the different spirits categories.

I love how sociable and passionate the drinks industry is. I also feel like I fit the mould of our target customer, someone who enjoys a premium and delicious spirit, which is helpful when developing the online strategy for our brands. 

About my favourite serves… If it’s gin, I would enjoy sipping on a Gibson or a wet martini with an olive. If it’s whisky, you can’t beat a good Rob Roy!

My favourite Wemyss Family Spirits release so far is Coastal Haar. It was my first product launch with Wemyss and has been insightful developing an e-commerce strategy with the team. It also helps that the liquid is delicious! A little bit salty with some fruity undertones.
