I'm Rebecca, the Senior E-Commerce & Digital Marketing Manager at Wemyss Family Spirits, where I focus on driving sales across our online platforms (Kingsbarns, Darnley's, Wemyss Malts, and Wemyss Family Spirits EU) as well as managing our Amazon Marketplace channels.
My passion for the spirits industry began during my university days when I started collecting local gins, eager to find the perfect gin for homemade cocktails. At the time, my partner worked as a bartender, and together, we enjoyed experimenting with new gins in cocktails. He also introduced me to whisky, and our weekend ‘half & half’ tastings became a tradition. My university dissertation, which explored the role of Brand Ambassadors in the Scottish Craft Gin industry, further fuelled my desire to pursue a career in spirits.
I have a diverse background in digital marketing and e-commerce, with experience in marketing agencies, an electronics SME, and the specialty coffee industry. Interestingly, I’ve found parallels between coffee and spirits, such as tasting notes and suggested serves, which has proven useful when crafting product listings.
I love the sociable and passionate nature of the drinks industry. I also relate closely to our target customer—someone who appreciates premium, delicious spirits—which helps shape the online strategy for our brands.
As for my favourite serves, I enjoy a classic Gibson or a wet martini with an olive when it comes to gin. For whisky, a well-made Rob Roy is hard to beat!
My favourite Wemyss Family Spirits release so far is Coastal Haar. It was the first product I launched with the company, and working on its e-commerce strategy has been incredibly rewarding. Plus, the liquid itself is fantastic—a little salty with fruity undertones.
